About
I'm Khaled, 0xBakeer online.
I live in Dresden, Germany, with two kids and a cat. The cat gets up at five, so some days I do too. The hour before the house wakes is a good hour for code.
I have written software for many years. Most of it never left the building: services in Go and Python, front ends in TypeScript, apps for iOS and Android, and the cloud systems that keep them all running. Work like that teaches you what holds up on a Monday morning, and I am glad I did it. The rest I built on my own time, because an idea would not let go of me.
Open source is the part of this trade I love most. You put the thing out there, the dead ends included, and people you have never met run it and tell you where it breaks. What I build in my own time goes on GitHub as it grows.
These days my evenings and early mornings go to inference: PyTorch and CUDA, making open models fast on a machine a person can own. I believe AI should run where your data lives. Your mail, your notes, the photos of your kids should not have to leave the house for a model to read them.
I want it to be normal to build software that way, and I want to help the people who are building it. If that is you, write to me.
I'm on X as @0xBakeer and on GitHub as 0xBakeer. Mail: [email protected].
